I just love summer and as a kid one of my fondest memories was when my sister and I would go and spend a couple of weeks with our cousins in Orem, Utah to pick cherries, go to the parade, and watch the hot air balloons. In commemoration of our recent family reunion and the memories we all shared, I made this fun hot air balloon card for the new challenge this week at My Craft Spot.
The challenge is You Make Me Smile/Thinking of You. For my card, I cut out the hot air balloon and clouds from the Every Day Pop-Up Cards cartridge and used the negative space for the hot air balloon to fill with twine. The basket is from Doodlecharms. I embossed the light blue background with my Cuttlebug and cut the grass below with my Martha Stewart fringe scissors. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!
I just love twine from The Twinery that Kimberly at My Craft Spot sells....it is a perfect accent for any card. I just wrapped some twine around a scrap piece of cardstock that is slightly bigger than the negative space I wanted to fill like this:
I then adhered it under the negative space on my card where the hot air balloon goes. I added some dimensional adhesive under the card front so that there was space for the twine wrapped card underneath it and then adhered it to my card base. I finished off the card with some more twine wrapped around the edge of the card. I hope that you enjoy my card today and will join us this week at My Craft Spot.
Hugs,
Amy
