Hi and welcome to my blog!! I am so glad you could join me today as I share a couple of cards with you for World Card Making Day. So, have you been hoping along the fab list of designers?? If not, you can check the huge blog hop by clicking on the picture below.....
I love to get a head start on my Christmas cards and so I though I would pull one together for you today. I used the Taylored Expressions Woodland Winter stamp set and colored it in with my Copic markers.
I am not sure what the patterned paper is (I dug deep into my stash for it). I used some of the Flax bakers twine from The Twinery, some pom-pom trim, and some stitching with my sewing machine to pull the card together.
For the snow, I used a Snow Writer from DecoArt and then added some fine glitter from Martha Stewart to make it sparkle (too bad it doesn't show up in th picture.
My Second card today uses the new October Stamp Kit of the Month from Peachy Keen Stamps. Again, I colored the image with my Copic markers and then added a little white pen detail.
This card is actually the example of October Challenge #1 on the Peachy Keen Stamps ning site this weekend for the release. It would be so fun if you wanted to come over and participate with us. The challenge is a 3, 2, 1 challenge that I am hosting. You will need to create a project with Peachy Keen Stamps that uses 3 buttons, 2 patterned papers, and 1 ribbon. So easy and there are some fab prizes up for grabs.....CLICK HERE to get all the information and to link up your card.
Isn't this little chipmunk/squirrel the cutest?? There are a few different faces you can use on this stamp for both a boy and a girl, plus there are two different bodies that face different ways. Perfect to make any kind of combination of these little cuties!! I used a little bit of the new Seaweed bakers twine from The Twinery on this card, too.
Now, it is GIVEAWAY time. I just love having giveaways!! I have been cleaning out my scrap stash and found this collection of three stamps sets that have never been used. They are prefect for card making.
I would like to give it away to someone that leaves a comment today under this post telling me what got you interested in crafting. I will randomly pick a winner for these stamps sometime next week, so be sure to come back to see if you won.
For me, I became interested in crafting because of my grandmother. She was a very talented crafter and I spent so much time with her and would join in on some of her crafting projects as I was growing up. She taught me how to crochet when I was 5....she must have had quite a bit of patience with me, that's for sure!! I just lost my grandmother this week and I am missing her very much!! In some ways, she was more like a mother to me. She will always be thought of as I create, because without her, I don't know if I would have started in the first place. Now, it is your turn.....tell me how you became interested in crafting.
Hugs,
Amy
I've always loved doodling, cutting and gluing down papers. However, I didn't realize it was called scrapbooking until my college years. I couldn't believe how much there was to paper crafting. I love it! It's even more amazing now with so many talented ladies out there to inspire us. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss Amy! {{HUGS}} I started with knitting at about 5, then needlepoint at about 9, into cross-stitch by about 15. I didn't start papercrafting until about I was about 31, starting with scrapbooking, and now more into cards and inking and stamping.
ReplyDeleteCheers! Deb. xo

Both cards are beautiful...awesome colouring and paper choices!! I've been into crafting since I was little...I always need to have a little project going to keep me sane :) Lee-Ann :)
ReplyDeleteWow, Amy your coloring is so vibrant and perfect on both cards! Beautifully done. My mom would knit or crochet in her spare time, and I always wanted to learn too. She taught me to do both. Then in the late 90's she was introduced to stamping and she thought I would be good at it, so she took me to a stamping convention. I walked in not knowing terms like "vellum", "heat embossing", "dry embossing", "pigment ink", "dye ink"...I was completely overwhelmed, but walked out having spent $150 on my first stamps, inks, and card stock :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WCMD!
Hi Amy, I have always loved crafts and I have tried my hand at needle crafts, sewing and in the past 15 years my passion has been card and paper crafts. I love your creations. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch cuteness! I'll head over to do the challenge today!
ReplyDeletevery cute card. don't know where i got my love of crafting, it's just something i've always enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness your cards are adorable. I especially love the little reindeer.
ReplyDeleteWow, I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. My mom is very crafty so I must have inherited the gene from her.
Happy World Cardmaking Day!
Love your cards Amy! Fabulous coloring!
ReplyDeleteI was interested in crafting as a kid. We always had crafty projects while I was a Camp Fire Girl and my Mom has always been really artistic. She really has a knack for decorating, especially at the holidays! Every holiday we had a big to-do about decorating the house, Halloween and Christmas in particular!

Amy your cards are beautiful, I have that TE set of stamps you did for the reindeer card, it's so cute I love your design!
ReplyDeleteI got into it mainly as therapy as I get anxiety and panic attacks and it really does wonders and helps me relax plus I get the added bonus of making someone smile with a handmade card!
These cards are adorable. Love the colors and images in each one.
ReplyDeleteWhat orignally got me started in crafts was my grandmother teaching me to chrochet when I was a young girl. I have always enjoyed making things for other people. I have done crocheting, sewing clothes and dolls, cross-stitching, tole painting, woodworking and finally scrapbooking and card making, which are my favorites.
I have always loved to do something crafty. My mom is a sewer and scrapbooker so it's what we do together. Good mother daughter time. Love these stamps:)
ReplyDeleteAs far back as I can remember, I loved playing with paper, the smell of crayons and water colors and the way you can manipulate the colors. The feel of clay, and once in school--fingerpainting was a new world! I started a scrapbook when I was about 10, after I went to camp and took my first real pictures (with a box camera!) Mom always made sure there were all kinds of mediums handy for us.
ReplyDeletelove love love both of your cards! and your copic coloring is so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in card making. I like making my own inside sayings especially to fit the situation or person. I hope my recipients feel the extra effort is worth it!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow girl...you are an AMAZING Copic colorer!!!! That first card is unbelievable!! And those little chipmunks are just to cute! Great job! And HAPPY World Card Making Day to you too :)
ReplyDeleteWhy did I get involved in crafting??? Hmmm...way back when I remember my dad drawing and teaching me to draw-this doesn't make sense as he was a diesel mechanic. I know he drew teddy bears and bridges, and his pen always circled an imaginary circle several times before he put the pen to paper. Then my cousin from AZ moved here and I was in total awe of her. She really got me into crafting. She was here only a short time, but made a lasting impression. I have stamped for a very long time, mother enrolled me in stamp classes. I gave my senior demo speech on heat embossing stamped images. So it has just been a part of my life for a long time.

So sorry about your loss Amy. Big hug! I was always interested in crats, I learnt how to knit and crochet at 6 from my older sister, then embroidery at school, and all of my live I made my own greeting cards, but when I came to live here (USA 2010) I discovered products that I never before have access too, since them I'm experimenting with everything I come in contact with... Thanks for the chance to win,
ReplyDeleteI can't really pinpoint it....I was always taking arts and crafts classes in school and building or painting things. It's just always been a part of life.
ReplyDeleteI'm so incredibly sorry to hear about your grandmother. That's such a tough thing to go through. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it gets a little easier to bear over time.
Thinking of you,

Amy...I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother, may her memories always be close to your heart! My Mom got me started on sewing when I was almost a teenager. Next, my sister in law got me hooked on scrapbooking two years ago! Scrapbooking and making cards are the best times when I can relaxed......not stressed out!!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteEvery time you post an example of your stamping it makes me want to jump up and try it again but alas I don't get the crisp images you do!
ReplyDeleteI guess I can admire them from my screen!
Both of my grandmothers were quilters and sewers, so was my mother. They also knitted and crocheted. I learned from all of them and expanded into other crafts as a child. I continue to love all things crafty and carry their spirits with me every day.

love your cards and that squirrel... so cute. the reason i got started in crafting was through scrapbooking to preserve my memories for the future
ReplyDeleteMy oldest sister, she passed away in 2007 from cancer, but all her crafting skills have been passed on and it keeps on giving. Hope your day goes well Amy :-)
ReplyDeletelove this!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are too cute! My mom and two of her sisters are very crafty and my aunt from my dad's side of the family that passed away last year to cancer was very crafty too. So I think I get my crafting skills from both sides of my family.
ReplyDeleteI love these creations for WCMD! I cannot believe you have stamps you HAVEN'T used!
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry for your loss...I lost my Grandmother in January, and there are days when it still feels fresh. I hope she continues to inspire you through crafting, and that the process brings you comfort.
I have been creating since I was old enough to hold a crayon. But, I have evolved from writing to knitting and crocheting, then sewing into scrapbooking. I have enjoyed them all, but I found my true love in cardmaking 3 years ago. It is the only way in which I give "time" to myself. It helps me slough off the day, so to speak.
I have 4 children, and two of them have inherited the creative gene! Now, my youngest daughter (6), loves to craft with me! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Awesome cards!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance a cool giveaway. I remember always being a crafter. My Mom is a seamstress and always ivlove me in some form of crafts. I have tried many and have stuck with paper crafts. It is my love and passion.

I have always had colouring books and things like that.. but my mother always made sure there were a steady supply of paper, pens and scissors too.. so i could create my own things. She still has the ornaments I made for my first Christmas.. of course.. they are all cut out of BLACK construction paper.. lol :)
ReplyDeleteAs my Mom tells it, I am a first generation crafter, her or any one in my family never did anything crafty, so I don't really remember when I started but I feel like I have done some kind of craft since I was quite small and I love doing all different types of crafts and best of all my daughter is just like me and we now that she is older we craft together and share ideas. Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI saw a scrapbook that some lady at my hairdresser had made about 25 years ago. I just glimpsed through and fell in love with it. She had done an exceptional job without all the stuff that is now available. So I started collecting supplies over the years and the rest is history. buck2@casscomm.com
ReplyDeleteSUPER job with both cards, they are both GORGEOUS!:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards. Great job. I love doing all sorts of crafts myself but when the cricut came out and I saw a demonstration, I was hooked and not turning back.
